As one of eighteen students in the Fordham University Class of 2023 to be selected for the Gabelli School of Business’ Honors Program, called the Global Business Honors Program, I spent two years of my undergraduate education working on an original capstone research project.
Combining my passion for business with my interest in sustainability, my chosen topic was titled “Greenwashing versus Sustainability Facts: What Speaks Louder to Consumers?” In this project, I sought to understand whether or not greenwashing or concrete facts about a company’s sustainability reputation have a greater effect on consumers’ brand attitudes and whether or not that impact is positive or negative.
To conduct the experiment, I created and designed an app from scratch called “GreenGuide” that presented unbiased facts about each of the companies included in the study. Some participants were shown screenshots from the app as stimuli, while other participants were shown greenwashing-style advertisements.
Below are several sample slides from the final presentation where I presented my topic and findings.
